Kalbarri Doctors Surgery
The Kalbarri surgery is a modern purpose built building close to the hospital and provides care for Kalbarri’s 1498 permanent residents and the 200,000 visitors who come to the town every year. The doctors are available for consultations from Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings and provide a wide range of care and on call back-up at the hospital. Doctor Graeme Findlay consults here as the Principal and employs experienced competent doctors to assist him. All the doctors are qualified and most are studying for further post graduate qualifications.
The consulting doctors are Doctor Graeme Findlay, Doctor Andi Howes. We also have Ashe Young our Nurse Practitioner.
Fees and billing arrangements
Our consultation fees are displayed at the receptionist’s desk and are at AMA rates. Credit card facilities are available. Bulk billing is available for pensioners, veterans’ affairs and department of family and community services health care cardholders, patients under the age of 16 and all recall services. The doctor or staff will advise you of any other costs that might arise from your consultation or treatment, for example any x-rays. Please bring your Medicare card and any of the above cards for each appointment.
After hours care
If you need medical assistance when the surgery is closed, please contact the Kalbarri Health Centre (emergency department) on 9937 0100. The staff of the emergency department will assess your problem and if necessary advise you to make a routine surgery appointment. In an emergency a doctor will be contacted. This practice provides 24 hour emergency care.
Home visits are available for regular patients who are unable to attend the surgery. These visits are available for the terminally ill and otherwise at the discretion of the doctor. The large practice area and the need to provide emergency cover at the Kalbarri Health Centre limits the availability of home visits.
Telephoning your doctor
You can contact doctors in this practice by telephoning during normal surgery hours. A message will be taken or an appointment will be scheduled.
Management of your personal health information
Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this practice to maintain the security of personal health information at all times and ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff.
Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time. Appointments are routinely scheduled at fifteen minute intervals. Longer consultations are available, so please, ask our receptionist if you require the extra time.
This practice has a policy of automatic enrolment in a reminder system. Clients will be forwarded reminders for an ongoing care for example the annual flu vaccination, pap smears and diabetic reviews. All recalls via the reminder system are bulk billed. All patients may opt out of this system by advising the reception staff.
If a patient has any queries, suggestions or complaints, they may be made to Dr Findlay or practice staff. However, if you wish to take the matter further and feel you need to discuss the matter outside of the surgery please contact.
